Predator from adidas - a legend on the football field

The adidas Predator is pretty much the most classic football boot of all time. Adidas has produced new and improved versions of their most perfect creation, ever since it came out in 1994. All versions have had the Predator technology in common. Many of the world's most iconic football players, such as Zinedine Zidane, have worn the boot and it has become world famous. David Beckham even got his on colour combination in his honour, the white boot with the classic adidas stripes in red.

Predator, a technology which adidas was keen to develop further

The Predator is in fact a technology, developed by the Australian footballer Craig Johnston. Johnston first translated his ideas on pure ball striking into the teeth line top of the Preditor's toe-box. The rubber teeth would increase the friction between the shoe and the ball. Product tests proved that Johnston was right with players exhibiting significantly more power and swerve on strikes of the ball. With knowledge of this new technology, adidas was obviously keen to develop the idea further.

Care for your Predators from adidas

Although football boots are made to withstand serious wear, there are ways to care for them if you want them to last even longer. Always brush and wipe off your boots after each training session and each match. Let them air-dry to eliminate bad odour. Do not wash the boots in a washing machine, as this can break down their qualities. Do not dry them using a heater, dryer or electrical shoe warmer, as this will dry out the leather and make them stiff and uncomfortable.

There are many different Predators

The Predator line has been exceptionally successful, which is no surprise. In addition to the Predator technology, adidas incorporated the PowerSpine technology in the boot in 2010. PowerSpine minimises the energy loss during a shot through a reduction of the "kicking flex" in the forefoot area. Since first launched in 1994, adidas has launched 12 main lines of the Predator, all with various sub-lines including baby versions. Predators come in many different colours and obviously for kids, juniors, women as well as men. They are legendary football boots and you share your experience with some of the most famous footballers when wearing them.
